Gone by Jonathan Kellerman

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

I don’t even know why I’m bothering to write a book review on this book.  I got to page 327 (out of 456), and I had to quit.  It was dragging, shallow, uninteresting, and I kept thinking about cooking and loosing track of what was going on.  You know what I say:  “Life’s too short!”  I put this book away and picked up a new one.

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

Wow! I read this graphic novel (memoir) in just 2 days. I loved it! A big thanks to Lee and Ali for recommending it to me. I can’t wait to read Persepolis 2 and Persepolis 3.

The Grinch (with Jim Carrey)

Hated it.  The makeup was good though.  Nothing like Dr. Suess’ original book and movie! :)

Sideways

I don’t know.  This movie was kinda depressing to me.  It’s about 2 men, mid-30s, who go to California wine country for one week to contemplate their lives.  One is divorced and one is getting married the weekend they return.  I don’t know…there just has to be more to life at this age.  Maybe I’m too optimistic?

Enchanted

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Once upon a time, Cinderalla, Snow White, and evil witches all met to tell this adult fairytale in the middle of New York City!  Cute, well done, and they all lived happily ever after….or did they?

Superbad

Funny movie, but it reminded me of why I hated the guys in high school so much! :)

Little Miss Sunshine

Great movie.  Very funny.  Talk about a warped family, although they are probably pretty close to the “average” family.

Sushi 101

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

I have friends who always want to go here, but I’m not too hip on the joint.  I tried the California rolls and noodle bowl, but I’m just not into it.  I tried, 3 times, that’s enough for me.  I want to put enjoyable calories in my body.

Anthony’s Caribbean Cafe

Awesome decor! Great food. Feels like you are on an island. Very friendly staff. I loved it and the pulled pork Roti was to die for!

Meskerem Ethiopian Cuisine

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

I went to eat Ethiopian about a month ago and I can’t say that I would go back.  Part of the reason is because I am allergic to wheat and the pancake-like dough disks they bring out to scoop up the food are totally wheat based.  The veggies were okay if you like curry, but the lamb was dry and overcooked.  Been there, done that.
